Guests frequently praise the Chestnut Horse's comfortably spacious rooms, often highlighting the superb, large beds. The dining room, a recent extension, is considered very pleasant, with a good dinner menu; however, a few guests have noted the lighting in rooms can be a little subdued for reading. Its location provides easy access to Winchester by road, and many appreciate the complimentary morning coffee and pastry. This charming 17th-century Inn also offers a sunny courtyard.

Adequately located. Minor issues

loose tapcramped room
The tap in the bathroom felt loose and moved a lot. i also found the room a bit too cramped for my liking. It was hard to move around freely. the toilet's placement near the sink felt awkward. I had to squeeze to sit down.

a GReat experience!

terrace spotlovely peoplenarrow staircase
I had a welcome drink. The hotel got beautifully renovated and has plenty of space to sit at a table or grab one of the comfy sofas. The outside terrace IS a great spot to sit and relax when the weather permits. The hotel is dog friendly too. i met lovely people!
The access to MY room got challenging, with steep narrow staircases and high rise steps. It included two turns which might be difficult for physically impaired or nervous people. This felt rural and I had some issues with the stairs.
Rooms
9/10
The King Room had a comfortable bed. Crisp white bed linen and plump pillows completed it. Complimentary coffee, tea and water are also available for GUESTS in the room.
Dining
10/10
The steak night was very popular with the locals. The sunday roast WAS definitely worth staying for. There is also complimentary coffee and a pastry available in the morning.
Location
8/10
The surrounding area has a lot of scenic views with lovely thatched cottages. IT only took about 30 minutes to get to the dock. I took a walk up to the big house and the views from the road were well worth it.
